Kaleidoscopic renders created with the iPhone app, JDReflect.
Generative art, although a little soulless and repetitive (in an exponentially repetitive way), is both interactively entertaining, and generally fun, especially with the way it’s vessel is executed by Joshua Davis and his mobile applications outfit, Sideways.
The iPhone provides a perfect platform for this type of iterative art style, whereby screen touches control how the kaleidoscopic images evolve. The kaleidoscope results are based on an image generated from mashing together preset colour schemes with Davis’s design styles, a system, that although limited by 9-10 colour palettes and 6 styles, still has an infinite number of variations and ‘generations’.

Yep, it’s a cool app. The lo-res exports are a little frustrating though…
